Spread betting on sectors with IG Index gives you a simple, tax-free* way to profit from fluctuations within the key constituent sectors of the FTSE® 350.

Guaranteed Stops

Sector bets can be an excellent way to profit from economic news that affects a particular industry, and because some sectors, including Banking and Mining stocks, can be highly volatile, they allow for large profits. However, without an effective risk-management strategy, spread betting on these sectors can also lead to significant losses.

This is why we offer our clients a range of options to help reduce the risk of spread betting, including Guaranteed Stops which put an absolute cap on the amount you can lose on any position. Find out more about the superior risk management tools offered by IG Index.

Flexible timeframes

Spread betting on sectors can be done in two ways: either as a Daily bet or as a Futures bet (over a quarterly period). This allows you to take either a short– or long-term view on a particular sector, depending on whether you believe the market will rise or fall rapidly or over a longer period of time.

Remember that financial spread betting is a leveraged product and can result in losses that exceed your initial deposit. Spread betting may not be suitable for everyone, so please ensure that you fully understand the risks involved.
